Strumpshaw Fen Fungi – December 2017
30 December 2017
Ascocoryne sarcoides (Purple Jellydisc) on the cut end of a Birch log.
Stereum hirsutum in the fissures of the bark:
Tremella mesenterica, commonly known as Yellow Brain Fungus, is erroneously referred to as Witches’ Butter which is the common name for Exidia glandulosa [First Nature].
Probably a Beech stump covered with a crust fungus with a bright yellow slime mould plasmodium
The fungus below looks like it could be Flammulina velutipes (Velvet Shank) – it was a damp day and the caps were slimy with a smooth sheen.
Further along on the river Yare path, possibly a more mature form of Flammulina velutipes.
Auricularia auricula (Jelly Ear).
